  HaZE started out as a HaZE project, a corralation of different band members when Mahu Freeman and phillip peters(drum and bass members of papakura band warmth) met up with Vocalist Lance Kingi of the punk band Circle Of Slugs. Lance then called on his longtime friend Len Davies, guitarist of goth band Directional Diaganal to start jamming. Thier goal was to create music to please themselves, afterall this was just a sideproject. Music came thick and fast as the songwriting combination of lance and Len came into play, writing such songs as "come down" and "7", but as bands go, creative differences can upset the balance, phillip peters a bass player of a more funk background eventually leaving the band. Mahu then called in Fox bass player Emma vilenti an expert violinist,pianist and bass player to play bass, the combination was set for then, the band recording the "A Perfect Circle" song "Magdelena" on thier first jam. They then were invited to play in the Auckland Funk Tour as a support band, they ripped up with huge cover songs such as "The Grudge" by tool, and "Passenger" by the "Deftones", they played 3 out of the 5 shows on the tour, and were certainly the loudest most energetic band there. With HSC exams rolling in the band took a break, and concentrated on thier study while Lance became a fulltime grocery assistant in a supermarket to support himself. After a long break from practising, and Emma leaving to concentrate on her other band, what was left of the band came back together and started writing again. Lance took up bass and they found another guitarist in Adam Burt(myself), Adam would switch between guitar and bass in some songs which would create a unique sound with lance on tenor bass( a slightly higher bass sound, and adam on the lower bass. They then spent copious hours songwriting and playing the odd gig then came up with some material to record in lances revised studio/bedroom. And at current time they are working to make thier demo album and establish themselves as musicians.
