  Dementia is a darkwave (a.k.a. deathrock/horrorpunk/gothic rock)band centered in the northern Alabama region of the United States.
  
  We strive to play music that, while retaining its own originality, reminds people of that wonderful, late-seventies-era darkwave.
  
  Our mission is, and always will be, to compose music, and enjoy doing so. We are not concerned with going gold, attaining 'groupies', or even signing a label.
  
  We are a band influenced by many different musicians. Among the more important are: Bauhaus, Christian Death, Joy Division, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Fields of the Nephilim, the Cure, and Diary of Dreams.
  
  It may be surprising, but not only are we influenced by bands, but by books. For much of our lives, we've all indulged in the delights of gothic literature. It imprints a unique sensation in one that nothing else possibly can. Our music is largely influenced by short-stories, novels, poetry, and prose from some of our favorite gothic artists. Among these are: Horace Walpole, Ann Radcliffe, William Hope Hodgson, Sam Lake, Edgar Allan Poe, and Algernon Blackwood.
